The Charter Township of Royal Oak Treasurer’s Office

 

 

For the Citizens that do not know me let me introduce myself. My name is Cynthia A. Phillips (Cyndy) I has been a resident of Charter Township of Royal Oak for some 35 years and resided in Oakdale Co-op. I have served the citizens of the Charter Township of Royal Oak since November 1988 as Township Trustee until I was appointed to the office of Township Treasure in 1989. I left the Treasurer Office in 1991 and was re-elected to the Treasurer office in 1996, 2000 & 2004. When I returned in 1996 as the Township Treasurer, I presided the Charter Township of Royal Oak Treasurer’s office on line with Oakland County Treasurer Office so the township would have better prepared services to help citizens with their taxes.

 

In 2000 The Charter Township Board of Trustees & Oakland Livingston Human Service Agency (OLHSA) was going to close the Pearl Wright Senior Center, due to inadequate funding. I went to the Board of Trustees and, told them that I could come up with a plan where the Township could run and operate the center. Along with Kimberly Bradley Reaves Joanne Day, Paula Washington we put a budget plan together and presented it to the Board of Trustees. The Pearl Wright Center & Fannie Adams Transportation has been operating in the black ever since.

 

I was elected to the Oakdale Board of Directors, served for 27 years, and served on many of Oakdale’s Committees. I was elected in 1998 to the Midwest Association of Housing Cooperative (MAHC) Board of Directors. I held the positions of Vice President of Michigan, Treasurer and I still hold the position of one of the 15 Board of Directors of MAHC. My husband (Oscar) and I own and operate a lock shop business for over 37 years. We enjoy camping, fishing and traveling.

 

I would like to invite all the Charter Township of Royal Oak Citizens to drop in during business hours with any concerns or just to say hello.
