Railroad connects Pontiac and Detroit.  Royal Oak Township is an important stop between the two.

 

About 80% of Oakland County still covered by Farmland.  Royal Oak Township started to be divided into separate municipalities.  Population of Oakland County beginning to shift to the Southeast portion of the country.

 

Water lines extended from Detroit to Royal Oak Township.

 

Post-war years.  Growth of bedroom communities in Oakland County.  Most of Royal Oak Township now divided into separate cities.

 

Last community withdraws from Royal Oak Township leaving the boundaries as they are today.

 

Urban Renewal program assists Royal Oak Township.

 

Township obtains Charter status.

 

Charter Township of Royal Oak:  population 5,784 persons
